Quick check on battery condition is to watch the head light as the engine drops from higher rpms an idle. On an evening - aim the headlamp at a wall where you can see the reflection of the light against the wall. Run the RPMS up and then let them drop off to an idle -
If the headlamp brightness remains fairly constant as the engine drops from higher rmps to an idle - battery is likely in pretty good shape.
If the light dims significantly as tthe engine approaches idle - battery is approaching the end of its useful service life.
